TOM QUILTY GOLD CUP   &

THE AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

160km - 2011

The South Australian Tom Quilty committee, led by a determined Jean Sims, managed to pull off a successful event hampered by an Antarctic squally change which turned the challenging track into a quagmire and the officials into icicles.

Kristie and Kurrajong Concorde took the track head on, keeping in contact with the initial leaders of the event.

They cantered into the lead at the start of the final leg in sight of the venue.  Five kilometers from the finish Kristie came across a locked gate closing the trail. Finally after the fence was cut by the Trail Marshall, Kristie and Concorde cantered to the finish.

Kristie and Concorde won the Tom Quilty 160km in a riding time of 10hrs 10min 22sec,  13min 04sec ahead of the Second Place getter.

The Castlebar Team again showed it's form by winning Reserve Champion in The National Teams Competition.

This is Kristie's 3rd Tom Quilty win and her 12th Quilty Buckle star

Kurrajong Concorde has an impeccable race record, with this being her 4th Quilty completion.  She has achieved a 6th & 2 x 3rd placing's before this years win.

In 2010 Concorde won the FEI Australian Championships 160km and in 2011 was Reserve Champion + BC at this event.

Concorde has won the Pat Slater Trophy in 2009 & 2010 at The Tom Quilty Gold Cup.

She has successfully completed 7 out of 7 160km events - 6 being Championships.

Kurrajong Concorde is a full sister to the 2000 Tom Quilty Gold Cup winning horse Cystal Flyer (Yamama) owned by

HH Sh. Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Kurrajong Concorde's full sibling Castlebar Gulfstream stands at stud at Castlebar and has commenced his endurance career with a win + BC at the FEI 2* at Imbil QLD in 2010 star
