Castlebar Gulfstream's first race in open company was the 108km at Tonimbuk August 2008.

On the 6th December 2009 the Final of the Young Horse Series (YHS) was held in conjunction with the Upper Murray Challenge FEI 2** 120km event at Walwa in Victoria. Of the 23 horses qualified to compete in the YHS, Castlebar Gulfstream came 2nd by 5 minutes to another Castlebar bred horse Castlebar Moonlight, who was also the overall winner of the race.

He has incredibly strong genetics, his other full sister Kurrajong Concorde (also owned by Castlebar) was 6th Mwt at the 2008 Tom Quilty 160km event . This year alone Concorde has also won three FEI 2* 120km events and a 100km at Toongabbie, receiving the Best Conditioned award at each of these rides. Concorde then competed in the 2009 Tom Quilty Gold Cup where she came a close 3rd overall and the following day she was awarded the Pat Slater Cup.
